I. Comprehensive Academic Performance
1. Undergraduates (Chinese Government Scholarship Recipients)
Applicants funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship must have a high school diploma with excellent academic performance and must pass the 2025 Undergraduate Entrance Academic Proficiency Test organized by the Ministry of Education. All required subjects (Chinese for the major, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry) must be passed for admission to the 2025 intake.
Note: Applicants who do not pass the test will be required to attend a one-year preparatory course at a pre-university institution designated by the Ministry of Education. After passing the preparatory course, they may begin their undergraduate studies in the relevant major at the university in the following academic year.
2. Postgraduate Students
The university's admission standards for graduate students primarily refer to GPA requirements: a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, 3.75 on a 5.0 scale, or 75% on a 100-point scale. The department has no additional admission requirements.
Note: The GPA standards may be adjusted in consideration of the grading system or average GPA of the applicant's country.
II. Language Proficiency
1. Chinese-taught Programs
National Standards for Engineering and Medical Programs: Applicants must have a score of at least 180 in HSK Level 4 or have completed their previous education in Chinese, or come from a country where Chinese is an official or native language. The department does not have additional language requirements.
2. English-taught Programs
Undergraduate National Standards: IELTS score of 5.5 or above / TOEFL score of 80 or above / PTE Academic score of 50 or above. The department does not have additional language requirements.
Postgraduate National Standards: IELTS score of 6.0 or above / TOEFL score of 80 or above / GRE score of 310 or above. The department does not have additional language requirements.
Applicants whose official language, native language, or previous educational instruction language is English, or who hold other language proficiency certifications recognized by the university, are exempt from submitting proof of English proficiency.
III. Academic Procedures and Requirements
1. Master's applicants are not required to secure supervisor approval prior to application. Doctoral applicants, however, must obtain supervisor approval before applying.
2. For graduate applicants, the department will review personal statements, research plans, CVs, and research achievements (if any) as part of the academic evaluation process.
3. Applicants may not required to attend online interviews organized by the department.
4. Doctoral applicants must have research achievements, including at least one published paper in a JCR-Q1 journal.
