Undergraduate Program for Specialty in Environmental Engineering

Program Objectives

This  program establishes the basic knowledge and application skills of the  environmental engineering according to the national environmental  strategy of sustainable development and the requirement of Two-style  Society development. This program nurtures talents in environmental  engineering and management with the ability both in engineering practice  and innovation ability. Students will be competent to do design,  engineering construction, environmental planning, environmental  assessment, research and development, education and management jobs in  the field of environmental engineering.

Ⅱ.Learning Outcomes

The knowledge and abilities of our graduates are listed as follows:

Graduation  requirement 1: Systematically solving complex environmental engineering  problems by using the knowledge of mathematics and physics, chemistry  and other natural sciences, as well as environmental engineering,  economy and management.

Graduation  requirement 2: Identifying and expressing complex environmental  engineering problems by the basic principles and methods of mathematics,  natural science and environmental engineering, and effectively solving  the problems through literature review and research analysis.

Graduation  requirement 3: Solving the complex environmental engineering problems  in areas of environmental protection and management, planning and  evaluation, pollution control and environmental remediation by  integrating technological, economic, social, social, health, safety,  legal, cultural and environmental factors with the concept of  technological innovation and the sustainable development of the  environment.

Graduation  requirement 4: Solving complex environmental engineering problems by  using the principles of environmental science, adopting scientific  methods, carrying out and integrating experimental design, analysis and  testing, data analysis, theoretical discussion and model simulation.

Graduation  requirement 5: Familiarly using modern information and engineering  tools such as information retrieval, data analysis, data query,  engineering graphics, analytical instruments and analogue simulation;  Ability of problem analysis, technology development and prediction  simulation for complex environmental engineering problems.

Graduation  requirement 6: Ability of reasonably analyzing complex environmental  problems, evaluating effects of solutions on society, healthy, safety,  law and culture, and comprehending the responsibility to be undertaken.

Graduation  requirement 7: Fully understanding and evaluating the impact of  engineering practices of complex environmental engineering problems on  environmental and social sustainable development .

Graduation  requirement 8: Bearing humanities and social science literacy, sense of  social responsibility, teamwork spirit and Chinese traditional virtues;  Comprehending and abiding the engineering ethics and norms during the  engineering practices.

Graduation  requirement 9: Serving different roles including individuals, team  members and leaders in a multidisciplinary team, and gradually growing  from team members to leaders.

Graduation  requirement 10: Ability of effectively communicating with industry  peers and the public on complex environmental engineering issues,  writing design instructions, project research reports, scientific papers  and patent instructions, and good language expression; Mastering the  foreign language of environmental engineering with certain international  vision, and communicating in cross cultural background.

Graduation  requirement 11: Understanding and mastering the principles of  environmental engineering management and economic decision-making, and  ability of applying them in a multidisciplinary environment with strong  organizational and managerial capabilities.

Graduation requirement 12: Ability of continuous studying and life-long education.

Ⅲ.Program Highlights

Cultivating  technology and compound talents who have omnidirectional knowledge in  science, technology and humanities. Cultivating technology talents in  the area of waste water treatment engineering, solid waste treatment and  disposal, air pollution control engineering, environmental remediation,  and environmental monitoring. Cultivating compound talents in the area  of environmental planning, management and assessment. The graduates  could resolve the complex environmental problems in one or more areas.
