Undergraduate Program for Specialty in Environmental Engineering
Ⅰ.Program Objectives
This program establishes the basic knowledge and application skills of the environmental engineering according to the national environmental strategy of sustainable development and the requirement of Two-style Society development. This program nurtures talents in environmental engineering and management with the ability both in engineering practice and innovation ability. Students will be competent to do design, engineering construction, environmental planning, environmental assessment, research and development, education and management jobs in the field of environmental engineering.
Ⅱ.Learning Outcomes
The knowledge and abilities of our graduates are listed as follows:
Graduation requirement 1: Systematically solving complex environmental engineering problems by using the knowledge of mathematics and physics, chemistry and other natural sciences, as well as environmental engineering, economy and management.
Graduation requirement 2: Identifying and expressing complex environmental engineering problems by the basic principles and methods of mathematics, natural science and environmental engineering, and effectively solving the problems through literature review and research analysis.
Graduation requirement 3: Solving the complex environmental engineering problems in areas of environmental protection and management, planning and evaluation, pollution control and environmental remediation by integrating technological, economic, social, social, health, safety, legal, cultural and environmental factors with the concept of technological innovation and the sustainable development of the environment.
Graduation requirement 4: Solving complex environmental engineering problems by using the principles of environmental science, adopting scientific methods, carrying out and integrating experimental design, analysis and testing, data analysis, theoretical discussion and model simulation.
Graduation requirement 5: Familiarly using modern information and engineering tools such as information retrieval, data analysis, data query, engineering graphics, analytical instruments and analogue simulation; Ability of problem analysis, technology development and prediction simulation for complex environmental engineering problems.
Graduation requirement 6: Ability of reasonably analyzing complex environmental problems, evaluating effects of solutions on society, healthy, safety, law and culture, and comprehending the responsibility to be undertaken.
Graduation requirement 7: Fully understanding and evaluating the impact of engineering practices of complex environmental engineering problems on environmental and social sustainable development .
Graduation requirement 8: Bearing humanities and social science literacy, sense of social responsibility, teamwork spirit and Chinese traditional virtues; Comprehending and abiding the engineering ethics and norms during the engineering practices.
Graduation requirement 9: Serving different roles including individuals, team members and leaders in a multidisciplinary team, and gradually growing from team members to leaders.
Graduation requirement 10: Ability of effectively communicating with industry peers and the public on complex environmental engineering issues, writing design instructions, project research reports, scientific papers and patent instructions, and good language expression; Mastering the foreign language of environmental engineering with certain international vision, and communicating in cross cultural background.
Graduation requirement 11: Understanding and mastering the principles of environmental engineering management and economic decision-making, and ability of applying them in a multidisciplinary environment with strong organizational and managerial capabilities.
Graduation requirement 12: Ability of continuous studying and life-long education.
Ⅲ.Program Highlights
Cultivating technology and compound talents who have omnidirectional knowledge in science, technology and humanities. Cultivating technology talents in the area of waste water treatment engineering, solid waste treatment and disposal, air pollution control engineering, environmental remediation, and environmental monitoring. Cultivating compound talents in the area of environmental planning, management and assessment. The graduates could resolve the complex environmental problems in one or more areas.

Minimum Credits of Curricular (Comprising course system and intensified internship practical training):173 credits
Major-related basic courses and core courses cannot be covered using credits from other courses in the program.
Minimum Extracurricular Credits: 5 credits. Every student should attend at least one contest or university start-up program or real research topic with faculty members.
