Research in the school of Environmental Science and Engineering is fast developing in recent years, thanks to the global emphasis on the remediation of climate change, ecologically sustainable development, national strategies on pollution control and environment remediation aiming at “blue sky”, “clean water”, “green mountains”, healthy citizen life and social harmony. Young talents joining the school’s faculty plays an import role in promoting our research toward international academic frontier. In recent years, the school receives funding and grants amounting to around RMB 30 million annually from different sources including NSF, national Key Project Program, governmental agencies at various levels, and industry. Such a soaring trend is to be more notable in the coming years.

More than ten research groups have grown up with interests in solid waste treatment, waste resourcing & environment control, green environmental remediation, water and air pollution control, water purification, green building technology and the artificial intelligent control, ecological energy technology, urban gas and the efficient applications, ground source heat pump, and etc.. Inter-discipline collaborations, including international collaborations, on a variety of topics exhibit the multidisciplinary characteristics in the environment related research activities in the school.

Each year, more than 100 quality SCI journal papers are published by our faculty. In the last three years, 2 province level first class prizes of science and technology were awarded to the school.
